Ethan’s moral dilemma involves whether or not to kill the girl after rescuing her, seeing as how contemporary mores dictated she was tainted after being abducted and raped by Native Americans. In what is considered the finest Western film ever made and one of America’s greatest cinematic achievements overall, director John Ford and actor John Wayne team up to tell the tale of Ethan Edwards, an unreconstructed Civil War veteran whose niece (Natalie Wood) is kidnapped by a roaming tribe of Comanches out in the picture-perfect cinematic American West. This is why incarceration is considered punishment-because even though it bears the mark of legality, it involves torturing someone for days or weeks or years by kidnapping them. Kidnapping is a horrific crime because it involves the complete capture of someone else’s body and their freedom of physical movement.

No matter what I tried, nothing would go through the gate. In first iteration, I modeled the second pond's outflow as a lateral structure, with a gate controlled by the rating curve. I used HydroCAD to get the rating curves for each ponds outflow dynamics. This is to run a breach analysis on the main dam. Outflows go over a weir and through a pipe, with overflows passing overland. I am modeling two ponds in series, with a dam between them. Thanks for all the insight, and now I hope for a little more. I copy the exact x-section from the downstream reach to place at that location with the re-routing reach and the program will inadvertently place the section as an "X" which seems to be the program trying to create 2 sections and will always extend them out of the schematic limits. The problem occurs when I try to add the second section at the downstream junction. At the first section, I copied the section above and it was placed concurrently in the exact same location. ( I have messed with these and they don't appear to make a difference). For the routine to run, you must have a cross-section at each junction. The junction lengths are automatically filled in by the program when the junction is created. The model I am working on is just a split off from the main stem, diverting flow from its original course and then downstream returning the flow to back to its original course. The "big X" is RAS's attempt to draw 1 x-section at the second junction. Thanks Chris for your reply on this issue. That’s okay as long as it is just a geometric schematic issue, and that cross sections were not really surveyed overlapped. Sometimes you’ll find that interpolated cross sections might overlap at times. You certainly do not want cross sections overlapping or extending into another reach’s flow path. The new cross sections will be missing the high ground on its “confluence” side, but that’s okay, because the other cross section (in the opposite reach) will capture that. ![]() This plane of confluence will generally follow high ground between the two reaches, but technically should define the boundary between flow lines of one reach and flow lines of the other reach. ![]() ![]() What I’ll usually do is draw an approximate “plane of confluence” (the yellow line), and then butt the new cross sections up to that line, without crossing over it. With this example, I would certainly add more cross sections upstream of the junction like so… With junctions, generally it is important to get cross sections as close to the junction as possible-even more so with unsteady flow modeling ( ). For example, if you scanned a 4x5" photograph of a pet to include in your rendering, you might declare its SIZE to be 4" x 5", regardless of the scan resolution. As shown, only Size and UVW Repeat are expanded.) Use Size to declare the model-space dimensions of your texture image. ![]() The custom settings will display Position, Rotation, and Size as well as UVW Offset, Rotation, & Repeat fields shown above (Note: the and icons can be used to expand or collapse display of the various input fields. In the "Properties > Texture Mapping" panel, select "Custom" and set the Projection to "Box" as described above. However, you can (and usually should) override this behavior. By default, a V-Ray texture is applied by Rhino using the "Surface" mapping, so that it appears to have the same size it would have in the real world (so a 500x500 pixel image with a 96dpi resolution will be 5.2" square when applied to the model), regardless of the model dimensions. It is helpful to think of the texture image being some real-world size related to the rest of your model. If you need to scale the application of the texture, adjust the UVW Repeat values and/or the Size values (see below). Check that the "Texture Space" is singular (meaning that all the objects share the texture in the same way). Now, using the pop-up, set the "Projection" to "Box". Switch to "Texture Mapping" (pull-down at the top of the panel). To apply your texture in a uniform way, select all the surfaces that share the texture and then select the "Object Properties" display. This is almost always wrong, producing mis-aligned, mis-oriented, and variably-scaled applications of the texture (see below). The default behavior in Rhino is to treat each surface as a separate object, stretching and orienting the assigned texture to fit. The important settings here are the projection or mapping type ( more detail), the Texture Space (usually OK by default), and the UVW Repeats which control how many copies of the texture are applied, and thus control the scale (but see additional discussion below). This will help you avoid changing texture mappings inadvertently. It is recommended that you name your textures (Under "General") according to how they are used. If you need to access these properties, you almost certainly need to use the "Custom" options, as shown at right. ![]() These determine the way in which a texture is applied ("wrapped") onto the object. In addition to Object Properties and Material Properties, every unique object in Rhino has Texture Mapping Properties. The main protagonist is Jonathan Joestar. Takes place in Britain in the 19th century. There have been seven parts to the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure saga, each featuring a descendent of the Joestars/Kujos as the main protagonist along with a large cast of characters. However, Stands generated by this factor disappear as soon as the body parts defuse from one another, though both Johnny Joestar and Diego Brando kept their Stands even after losing the body parts they possessed. In Part 7, Steel Ball Run, a third amplifying factor is introduced by fusing parts of oneself with "The Saint"'s body parts. In Golden Wind there are examples of a single person possessing two Stands because of the ability of an extraordinary Stand. It is still unclear for the condition that one person can possess two Stands. It is unclear as to whether or not these artificial Stand users were capable of having Stands of their own, but Enrico does claim that only certain individuals are qualified to have Stands inserted. However, this is also a gamble, as an unqualified Stand user may render their new Stand uncontrollable, and he or she may actually kill himself or herself in the process.Įnrico Pucci of Part 6, Stone Ocean, was able to produce artificial Stand users with his Stand, Whitesnake, by stealing others' Stands and "inserting" them into regular people. A qualified existing Stand user may also have their Stand "upgraded" by piercing the arrow through the Stand-this results in the Stand becoming a "Requiem" form of its previous self. Another amplifying condition is done by simply being around powerful Stand users, such as the case of Trisha Una's Spice Girl from Part 5, Vento Aureo. ![]() However, it is often a gamble, as it would easily kill an unqualified person, and there is no apparent way to know if a person is qualified ahead of time the arrows do, however, tend to seek out qualified people on their own if there is someone to guide them. One of the known and most commonly used amplifying factors is to pierce oneself with "Stand arrows" created from a mysterious meteorite. However, not everyone able to manifest a Stand has the ability to control it despite her father Joseph Joestar and her son Jotaro Kujo being powerful Stand users, Holly Kujo, due to her lack of physical strength and resolve, is brought to the brink of death by her Stand, sapping away her lifeforce in an attempt to manifest itself. However, a Stand may never manifest itself in one's life until it is amplified by certain conditions/factors. The exact requirements for a person to obtain a Stand are unclear, although the series hints that it can be linked to bloodline, rigorous spiritual/hamon training, and/or exceptionally strong willpower. When first presented in Part 3, Joseph Joestar referred to it as a "ghostly ripple" ( 幽波紋(スタンド) sutando ?, but without furigana would be pronounced yū hamon) it could conjecturally be said to be a semi-physical manifestation of one's hamon (ripple) powers as seen in Part 1 and Part 2. Later installments have variations on this, with the Gio in Giorno sounding like a "Jo", or with Josuke where the character representing "suke" can alternatively be read as "Jo".Ī "Stand" (スタンド sutando) is a supernatural power in the manga and anime JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. It is actually, in fact, a nickname for the main protagonists of the series due to a unique style of taking the letters "J" and "O" from the first and last names of the protagonist and then put them together, creating "JoJo". It should be noted that despite the series' title, there is no such character named "JoJo". ![]() The series spans several generations, with each part featuring a descendent of the Joestars as the main protagonist along with a large cast of characters. Each member of the bloodline has a star shaped birthmark above their left shoulder blade – Dio and his descendants have this distinguishable mark also, as a result from the 'theft' of Jonathan's body and inheriting the Joestar genes as well. ![]() The story of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure centers around the misadventures of the Joestars, a powerful family with English roots most of its members attract the most particular trials and tribulations when confronting their enemies. See also: List of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure characters ![]() The interface is clever enough to notice when you add another wall, and if you click close enough to an existing one, it will assume the new wall starts from there, and won’t leave you with frustrating little gaps that would be a pain to fix later on. As you drag them you’ll immediately start seeing how long it will be (you get to choose your preferred measuring system: antiquated feet and inches, or the more modern and precise metric system). Perhaps the most obvious start is adding walls. It might look a little intimidating at first, but you get the gist of it very quickly. The largest part of the interface is dedicated to your design, with all the tools you need crammed in a sidebar to the left, rows of icons at the top, and a library on the right. For the sake of this review, we’ve taken a look at the Suite package on a Mac. If you’re not sure which one to choose, Chief Architect offers you a trial version which you can check out and decide which features suit you best. There are also upgrade prices for those who already own a previous version. Further, if you’ve paid for 12 consecutive months, you can own the software outright (sort of a rent to buy option). Finally, Pro costs a hefty $595 (or $495 with the current price reduction), and you also have the option of renting that software for $59 a month. Architectural would set you back $249 (or $199 if the current offer is still valid by the time you read this). You can get it for $129, although it is currently on offer at $99. This would be compatible with both 32 bit and 64 bit windows.Don’t be put off though: Suite is still incredibly capable, and most likely would suit most people’s needs. It's not too far of a stretch, then, to think that Isolation 2 could infuse a bit of this into an ideal coop mode. Taking the most interesting parts of the formula provided by the mobile semi-sequel Alien: Blackout and including the human element into its survivors could be the key to unlocking a true horror/survival multiplayer masterpiece. While it wasn't well-received, even Capcom took a swing at integrating a top-down architectural display for its own Resident Evil title, Resistance. Since its release, many games have taken to simulating its top-down presentation. Its simple interface, combined with the jump scares and resource management gameplay, made this firearm-free franchise a mainstay in the horror gaming genre. ![]() Related: Five Metroidvania Games to Hold You Over Until Metroid Dread Cooped up Co-Opĭespite what else might be trending in the land of horror gaming, the Five Nights at Freddy's series remains a consistent fan favorite. With today's advancements in headsets and speakers, it's not unreasonable to expect an audio experience that would rival a visual one- in fact, it's likely a necessity given today's deluge of high-quality horror titles. Alien: Isolation did a wonderful job of setting up visual elements using clever lighting and shading tricks that formed tension and dread behind every corner, but its sequel could focus on some of the more audio-driven aspects to heighten the atmosphere without retreading the original's tracks.Īmbiance, such as adding the groaning of straining metal, the ceaseless dripping of water onto a metal grate and, of course, chittering noises of rats and other crawling animals, would help immensely during the long stretches of alien-free puzzle solving. Other aspects of the franchise's presentation, however, tend to fall by the wayside. Giger's influences remain constant throughout nearly every piece of media it touches, and, arguably, his grey and black industrial, biomechanical approach to design are what makes the franchise so visually appealing. RELATED: Marvel’s Alien Unveils the Most DANGEROUS Xenomorph Yet Set Tension to TenĪs far as aesthetics go, the consistency of the Alien franchise has the style guide down pat. If it's not stalking a defenseless player from the shadows, it's just not that scary. If Isolation 2 were to succeed, it should reduce the player's ability to fight back with a weapon or eliminate firearms altogether. Crafting distraction devices, setting up environmental traps (for example, locking the alien in a timed room) in addition to just hiding or flat-out running are all methods of providing strategic and rewarding gameplay without taking the fangs out of the alien itself. The root problem is that a game removes fear when all of the player's problems can be solved via reloading. ![]() Alien proved that bullets were a band-aid solution to dealing with a hive of these creatures and the sequel to Alien: Isolation should follow suit. While it's fine to explore what happens when one of the Xenomorphs eats a hand grenade, this approach has to prove ineffective while fighting them in the long term. Alien succeeds due to its successful ability to highlight its audience's fear of the unknown. |
